Coronavirus Update

Information as of april 1, 2020

Cucamonga School District Parents and Students,

Today Governor Newsom supported the recommendation made last night by State Superintendent of Public Instruction, Tony Thurmond, to keep all schools closed for the remainder of the school year. Our County Superintendent, Ted Alejandre, is aligned with this decision and recommends all schools in San Bernardino County follow this directive due to current safety concerns and the need for ongoing social distancing due to COVID -19.

I acknowledge that these are some of the most challenging times we have gone through as a school community, but I am confident that together we can overcome any obstacles we may face. Our continued patience, compassion, and empathy for each other will be needed now more than ever, as we face the reality that students will not be able to finish the school year in a traditional setting with their classmates by their side.  Students must be assured that even though they are learning remotely, they will still promote through their current grade level and their Report Cards will reflect completion of the 2019-2020 school year.

I am especially aware about the 5th and 8th grade Classes of 2020.   Please know we will make every effort to listen and work with those promoting to help them through this unprecedented time.  Your principals are working on developing a different type of promotion ceremony that ensures social distancing, and keeping everyone safe.   They will provide you with details in the coming weeks.

Most importantly, please continue to take care of yourself and your family by practicing social distancing, avoiding public places, and limiting contact with others so that together we can prevent the spread of this virus.
